In past articles, we have explained the Google Dance algorithm and its related topics, like: What Is Google Dance Algorithm Or Google Dance? How Did Google Dance Algorithm Come About? The Impact Of Google Dance On Startup Sites and so on. In the article “An Ultimate Guide to SEO (Search Engine Optimization)” we introduce the Google dance algorithm.  In this article from Smart Strategy Blog, we intend to explain Google Dance’s critical points so that you can get a deeper insight into this algorithm. Keep up with us.

Google has not officially endorsed Google Dance.

There are topics in SEO that Google has never approved. If we talk about them, it is either based on our own SEO experience or articles from reputable sites in site optimization. Google dance algorithm is one of those topics! Google has never confirmed the existence of such an algorithm. In addition, some sources say that there is no algorithm called Google Dance! For example, the rank ranger site writes:

Google Dance was a term coined to describe the massive rank fluctuations that would occur in the past when Google would update its rank algorithm once a month. Since Google began implementing much smaller algorithm updates on a daily basis, the rank changes are normally less dramatic, and therefore Google Dance is no longer a term frequently used in the SEO industry.”

Of course, this is just the statement of one of the SEO sources and does not necessarily mean it is true. But if I want to tell my own experience, In the last 2/3 years, the sudden changes in the search results have decreased, and we can say that if there is something called Google Dance, it has become less critical.

Interestingly, there is a story behind most of the algorithms that Google has unveiled. But at the same time, there is a familiar story behind most of them, and that is: ((Google created this algorithm to fight black hat SEO!))

Yes, from the beginning until now, Google has been trying to identify black hat SEOs who illegally SEO their employers’ sites with the help of various weaknesses and bugs. The real problem here is that the areas with black hat SEO activities do not have valuable content, and their visibility in the search results will only reduce the credibility of Google. The responsibility of Google Dance was precisely to find inappropriate content.

Of course, you should also know that factors such as bounce rate, CTR, retention time, etc., are not factors that Google checks with the help of the dance algorithm. Instead, these factors are reviewed by Google’s robust artificial intelligence algorithm, i.e., “Rank Brain.” Therefore, Google Dance is only responsible for raising and lowering the ranking of sites; the rest is related to other algorithms such as Rank Brain.

Is Google Dance active as before?

Around 2003, Google had little power to index sites. In those years, in general, the whole web was indexed by Google 10 times per year. This means that every 36 days, the robots would index your site only once. Now, in this situation, Google Dance has a lot of activity, and after every index, you might face a sharp decrease or increase in your rank. Furthermore, new algorithms were constantly published or updated in this situation, affecting the results.

But today, the situation is different. In addition to the fact that Google has increased its power in indexing pages, it uses more algorithms to check high-quality web pages. In general, it no longer visits sites as often as before. So we are witnessing the lack of Google Dance. But does this mean we should no longer pay attention to this algorithm?

Fluctuation is normal!

If you have SEO experience, you probably realize that it is normal for your site to fluctuate in the results! In fact, in these few years of SEO experience in various projects, I don’t remember seeing a place whose pages did not fluctuate and whose rankings did not increase or decrease.

Here’s the important note: we have no way to know why these fluctuations! This means that we cannot distinguish whether this fluctuation is the result of Google Dance, the development of the website being fined, the result of the better activity of competitors, or… So what do we do?

What to do when you fall into the google dance algorithm?

You may have the following questions: how to use the google dance algorithm? What to do in the unfavorable fluctuation of pages?

You answer that If your site faces a sudden decrease in ranking, Follow this path. These are precisely the Google dance keypoints that I have learned in smart strategy SEO projects:

  1. In the first step, keep your hands down if you are doing gray hat SEO or black hat SEO techniques. If you were buying or building backlinks, stop it entirely or at least slowdown.
  2. After this, you can buy valuable backlinks from reputable sites, like guest post backlinks.
  3. In the third stage, Use effective white hat SEO techniques. For example, if you have an account on Twitter that has many followers, be sure to post a link to one of the valuable pages of the site, especially the desired page, and ask the audience to share the link with you. In this way, you get powerful social signals.
  4. After all this, the most important thing you should do is improve internal SEO, especially the content of the desired page. I updated the page’s text and added video, photo, and audio in this situation. I also try to increase the page comments.
  5. Now, either by sharing its link on social networks and inviting the audience to see the page or using the comment marketing technique. With these actions, you have tried the most to restore the page rank and improve it.

Google dance keypoints

Here are some Google dance critical points that you should consider from the beginning:

1. Pursue perfection from the beginning!

You should try to write valuable and excellent content from the beginning when you intend to create content!

Of course, I don’t mean you have to write an article of several thousand words from the beginning, add video and audio content to it, etc. Because in this situation, you probably want to take a lot of time to write any content, which will delay your site’s SEO process, especially at the beginning. But at least in producing any content, ensure that you have fully explained the main content and topic to the audience and there is no misunderstanding.

Note: Writing attractive titles different from competitors that encourage the audience to click is very important in your success while being influenced by Google Dance.

2. Do not confuse Google Dance with search history!

Remember that Google sometimes displays page rank based on your search history! This means that when you search for SEO content in Google, this page is only in your browser at the 2nd rank of Google, while its actual rank is, for example, the 5th rank.

Why? Because when Google realizes that you constantly enter a site and read its pages, it prefers to provide you with more pages of that site in the results. In this situation, if you want to check the actual ratings, go to the anonymous section in the Chrome browser.

3. Everything is not user behavior!

Remember, everything in SEO is not user behavior! This means that if you expect to write valuable content in a field today, and then Google will test it on the first page and stay in the top rank due to the excellent behavior of the user, your expectation is wrong!

Because experience has proven that factors such as backlinks, social signals, branding, internal links, site strength, etc., are still very influential on your rankings, and sometimes they are even more important than user behavior and factors such as bounce rate, etc.
